On C St.: An update of the big issues in the midst of the City Council
Philadelphia Watch, Too --
Law firm's fee in city investment disclosed
After David L. Cohen resigned as then-Mayor Ed Rendell's chief of staff, his law firm was paid about $333,000 to help a large insurance firm secure a controversial investment by the city pension fund.
With Cohen's urging, the city pension board overrode objections of its financial advisers and invested $100 million with a subsidiary of the insurance conglomerate AIG.
Think PGE and Atter Wayne and City of Portland and the Oregon Investment Council and [the list goes on and on and on] and the DA sits on his ass (as far as I can tell) and the AG stands ready to act as the protector of graft at the state level in the interest of protecting the public policy of self-serving public servants. Now, where oh where is the FBI?
Should the Portland City Attorney position be an elective office like that in San Diego? Now that would make for an interesting initiative petition for a charter amendment.
UPDATE April 15: Complaint filed in California Bar Against elected City Attorney for San Diego. This is a good example of someone asking the bar to trump the normal electoral process. I wonder who elected the members of the bar association . . . hum?
