The elected city council folks seem to think the elected city attorney is supposed to be their advocate and not the advocate of the people. If an elected city attorney has such a hard time in San Diego how could one possibly think that a public attorney that serves at the pleasure of elected officials in many places in Oregon would dare stand up on the side of the people?
A clash between San Diego City Attorney Michael Aguirre and the City Council elevated yesterday when Deputy Mayor Toni Atkins said the council may end up taking Aguirre to court to settle a disagreement about his legal authority.
